Helping Adult Children Care for Their Aging Parents

Esther Koch
Eldercare Advisor

Caring for an Aging Parent and Becoming their Advocate
May Be One of the Most Important and Challenging Roles
That You Will Assume During your Lifetime.

Esther Koch founded Encore Management to focus primarily on the needs of adult children who care for their aging parent. She has personally faced the many challenges of eldercare as primary caregiver to her mother over the last ten years.  Her firm, Encore Management, provides personal and corporate advisory services and seminars that assist Boomers with the range of issues associated with caring for aging parents and their own aging. Her media interviews have appeared on television, radio and in print.

Esther was honored to have been selected as a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging. This conference, held once every ten years, is tasked with providing aging policy recommendations to the President and Congress.  She continues to serve on the California delegation.  In addition, Esther is a Medicare Aging Network Partner with the Administration on Aging and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid for the Medicare Prescription Drug Program.

Esther received her graduate degree in gerontology from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, the Business Forum on Aging of the American Society on Aging and AARP.

As a Stanford MBA and UCLA undergraduate, Esther is also a CPA and former Price Waterhouse tax professional.  She held CFO positions for such companies as The Gymboree Corporation, Gump's, Pete's Brewing Company, Home Express and a variety of dot.com start-ups.  In addition, she has provided strategic marketing services to a wide range of consumer product and service companies.

In honor of her mother who had leukemia, Esther is very committed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She is a member of the Silicon Valley/Monterey Bay Chapter Board, a past member of the National Board of Representatives, and is an active participant in the Society's Team in Training, Hike for Discovery and Light the Night programs.

Bicycling, walking and dancing, plus two granddaughters and lots of friends, are her prescription for youthful, happy, healthy aging.
